Peru, La Prosperidad, Washed
Plum • Molasses • Milk Chocolate
Grown by a dedicated farming family high in the shaded mountains of San Ignacio, Peru, this washed coffee shows how the environment shapes what you taste. The cold mountain nights and dense forest canopy cause the coffee cherries to ripen very slowly, which builds a high level of natural sweetness inside the seed. After harvesting, the coffee undergoes a traditional washed process to keep the flavors clear and true to the local climate. When brewed, this deep sweetness acts as a natural counterweight to the crisp fruit flavors created by the high elevation.
Coffee "C Market" Price - $3.09
Coffee is a globally traded commodity. As such, there is a market for trading coffee futures. This market price fluctuates based on many factors, but especially supply and demand. While, we do not buy many coffees based on the C Market, it does impact how coffee we purchase is priced.
Guilder's Price - $6.15
This is the final price we pay for this coffee. This includes any premiums we might pay to the producer to make sure they are receiving a sustainable margin. It also includes all of the logistics of moving the coffee from its place of origin to our roastery in the Alameda neighborhood of Portland, OR, USA.
